BLC Cover Progression

I thought this would be interesting / fun...

It shows the basic thought progression of the Black Label Comics cover / pin-up, from the first sketch I was happy enough to send over to Ian to the final cover artwork.

Initially, it was a much more static image, with the angel's pose deliberately mirroring the female cops. I was also planning on a background of an evidence board. That got dropped pretty quickly as it simple wouldn't have fitted in with the format.

Thanks to the wonders of working digitally, I was able to keep hold of Nero's wings when his pose changed, and easilly - if roughly - drop in elements like the logo so I was able to be sure I'd left sufficient space.

None of this would have been possible without Ian's fast and honest feedback throughout the process, and his and Rosie's terrific characters.

All drawing done in MangaStudio, all colours in Photoshop.
